Weekly Reflection: Become the Person Your Dreams Are Waiting For

There was a time when I measured my life almost entirely by results.

Did I achieve the goal?

Did I make enough progress?

Did I succeed?

If the answer was yes, I felt good about myself.

If it was no, I often felt like I’d failed.

Over time, I’ve realised how exhausting that way of living can be.

Because results are unpredictable.

You can work hard and still experience setbacks.

You can prepare well and still encounter disappointment.

You can do everything right and still have things unfold differently than you hoped.

If your self-worth depends entirely on outcomes, you’ll spend much of your life riding an emotional rollercoaster.

What changed for me was learning to value something deeper than achievement.

Character.

The person I was becoming.

Because while I can’t always control what happens around me, I can influence who I become through it.

Am I becoming more patient?

More disciplined?

More courageous?

More generous?

Those questions have become far more important than simply asking whether I’m winning.

Ironically, focusing on becoming rather than achieving has often led to better results anyway.

Not because I stopped caring about success.

But because I stopped allowing success to define me.

I’ve also learned that our best self isn’t something we discover one day.

It’s something we reveal.

Every choice either brings it closer to the surface or buries it beneath comfort, fear, or distraction.

The person you’re capable of becoming already exists in potential.

The question is whether today’s decisions allow that person to emerge.

That’s why perfection has lost its appeal for me.

Perfection keeps you waiting.

It whispers that you need to be more prepared before you begin.

More qualified.

More confident.

More certain.

Life has taught me something different.

It simply asks us to bring our best to this moment.

Nothing more.

Nothing less.

Some days your best will be extraordinary.

Other days your best will simply be getting back up.

Both count.

And then there’s that thought that always makes me smile:

“My dreams just texted me—they said, ‘Hurry up!'”

It’s playful, but there’s truth hiding inside it.

Our dreams don’t become reality because we admire them.

They become reality because we keep showing up for them.

One conversation.

One workout.

One page.

One decision.

One courageous step at a time.

So today, don’t wait until you’re perfect before feeling proud of yourself.

Be proud because you’re still becoming.

Be proud because you haven’t quit.

Be proud because despite the setbacks, the doubts, and the delays, you’re still answering the call to become more than you were yesterday.

And perhaps that’s what greatness has always been.

Not arriving.

But refusing to stop becoming.

“It was truly a wonderful read and something I think everyone will resonate with in one way or another. I particularly enjoyed how Ravi noted the elements of anxiety showing up in all areas of Maya's life, a relatable topic to whoever is reading. The topics of accepting uncertainty and growth coming from being uncomfortable really hit home, as these are core life lessons. I would highly recommend this eBook to everybody, as there are multiple important lessons that can be taken away and actioned (especially with the worksheet at the end!) A great read with a fantastic message for all ages.”

"Rarely do you find a book that is this easy to read yet this hard to forget. Ravi has created a relatable, honest guide for the person standing in front of the mirror wondering 'what now?' It’s a roadmap for the transition, built on the reality that while we might not know our destination, we can no longer stay where we are. Insightful, gentle, and profoundly practical."

“Ravi is a passionate spiritually aligned coach and author. “Forged by fire - the river bends” is a modern day fable that takes one on a journey of self discovery and empowerment. The style is reminiscent of Paulo Coelho and also chimed with Deepak Chopra’s 13th Disciple in its powerful story telling with clear messaging. Awakening to our true potential is surely our greatest gift to ourselves and this book will be a most valuable guide.
